What to Do with Your Holiday Cash – Part I

Every year my grandfather hands me an envelope stuffed with cash, and my brain whirs with the possibilities. If I’m not careful, cash disappears rather quickly with not even receipts to show for all the spending. So this year I’m carefully considering what I need and planning my purchases.

jawbone I got an iPhone a month before Christmas (thanks, Dad!) and bought myself a case. However, the earbuds/headset that came with the iPhone are too big for my ears, so I need a headset that will fit. I’m planning on getting the Jawbone Bluetooth Headset. The noise-canceling feature is a must and the fact that it hooks over the ear and has soft squishy earbuds makes my tiny earholes happy.

artitude zineI’ll also be signing up for Dog Eared Magazine and Artitude Zine. Dog Eared is a book arts journal and Artitude is a mixed-media zine, two things that I love dearly, and two zines I’ve been meaning to subscribe to for a while. Dog Eared seems like the only independent book arts publication out there. Artitude’s editors and contributors have published a book called Kaleidoscope: Ideas and Projects to Spark your Creativity, and if the zine is anything like this book, I will be very pleased.

iWorkSince I upgraded my iBook to Leopard, I decided I wouldn’t give Microsoft more money than I need to. I’ve heard good things about Apple’s office suite, so I’ll get iWork
to replace Microsoft Office.

I have a list of books on my Amazon wish list, I need some clothes, and I have there are a few necklaces I’d like to get myself as well. And I’ll need to save some cash to renew my business license.

The next few “What to Do with Your Holiday Cash” posts will feature some really neat things you can do with your cash. I’ll be highlighting some good buys for writers, crafters, computer geeks & not-so-girly-girls. Stay Tuned!
